I Believe dog training is an everyday, all
day thing. I want you to get rid of the notion that 15 minutes twice
a day is enough to train a dog. While I know that method can teach a
dog to sit stay and heel, it can’t teach a dog to mind his manners
in all situations. I want you to get ready to make your dog do
things all day. He will learn to sit for dinner, stay still while
meeting new people and a variety of every day things to make him a
great pet. I will be asking you to do short training sessions, but
we will be adding a lot of stuff that you can do in the course of
your day. I will also be asking you to take your dog out more, as
well as spending time playing with your dog. All of this will be
training!! In order to train a dog to be part of our lives we must
include him in our lives. If he is to meet strangers nicely, he must
meet strangers. If he is to ride in car well, he must go in the car
often. Get ready to change the way you think about training and get
ready to make your best friend know he is your best
friend!!
About
Leslie
I grew up in a pet and wildlife loving family
and have shared my entire life with dogs. My dog education started
at 16 when I attended my first course in small and large animal
care. I then worked in a kennel and grooming shop until graduating
high school. My boss there was a dog trainer, and the rest is
history. Since then I have worked many dog-related jobs, served an
apprenticeship as well as attending numerous seminars. I now share
my life with my husband, a daughter and 4 rottweilers. I am
completely devoted to furthering my education. This is a field I
believe will continue to change and grow. I believe it is no longer
possible to deal with dog problems the old fashioned way. I feel
canine behavior is a living thing that must be re-examined again and
again over the years. I hope you enjoy learning about your best
friend as much as I do.
I am a member of Gulfstream Rottweiler Club, Indian River Dog Training
Club, The PBGV Club of
America and I also enjoy
competing in AKC events.
